We just had the opportunity to try out Survival Hax’s 10-in-1 survival kit – what a compact and durable kit! The sturdy metal carabineer can clip easily onto your belt loop or backpack zipper, and for just a few ounces of weight, you’ll have all the tools you need to fish and start a fire.
The braided paracord is military grade and unfurls out to a 4-foot length; enough for a small clothes line or other use.
Attached to the cord, is an emergency whistle that puts out a high pitch shrill that will attract attention for a long distance.
The waterproof pill container is a finely-machined aluminum with a rubber gasket that will keep the contained contents dry and secure.
Inside the pill container is a useful kit that includes:
- 1 razor-sharp knife with a saw blade (ring base fits nicely on your little finger)
- 2 small fishing line floats
- 2 fishing line swivels
- 2 fishing line weights
- 2 safety pins
- 2 fishing hooks
- 1 large length of fishing line
- 1 large flint bar
- 1 pack of dry fire-starting tinder
- 1 wire saw – heavy duty
We used the wire saw to cut a 1″ diameter branch and our 10 year-old son cut it with ease in less than a minute. This saw could easily cut braches that are several inches in diameter.
The contents are packed tightly into the pill bottle. We were able to pack them back in with some effort. The wire saw in the most unwieldy item and you might want to use a rubber band for easier packing.
I personally like keeping this fishing kit together in the pill bottle, but you have the flexibility of using this waterproof container for other purposes, whether it be matches, pills, or other necessary items for your trip.
Overall, Survival Hax’s 10-in-1 survival kit is a well-made, useful product that gives you an awful lot of value for its small $15 price tag.
